Renilton Soares de Oliveira

Renilton Soares de Oliveira was born in Floriano, PI, Brazil, in 1966. He received his first degree in computer science in 1987 from the Federal University of Ceara in Brazil. Between 1987 and 1997, he worked as a programmer, systems analyst, and IT manager for several companies, both in the government and in the private sector. Meanwhile, he obtained a certification of computer specialist from a Lato Sensu academic program (1988) and a bachelor’s degree in computer science (1993), also from the Federal University of Ceara. In 1997, he was awarded a Fulbright scholarship, supported by several institutions including Encyclopedia BritannicaInstitute of International Education (IIE) and the American Chamber of Commerce - Brazil, to pursue his master’s degree at the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he graduated in December of 1999. His research work at the University of Florida has been focused on integration systems, data warehousing, and business intelligence. He is also interested in enterprise systems and architecture and management science. After finishing his master's program, Renilton worked as a software engineer for Syncsort, a software company located in New Jersey. Since November, 2000, Renilton has been back in Brazil working as IT Manager for local and international companies. Renilton has been also working as a lecturer at colleges and universities in Fortaleza. Nowadays, he provides specialized software development and consulting services on business intelligence (BI), analytics, and IT architecture at Conjecto. He has also been a member of the Special Interest Group on Management of Data (SIGMOD) of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
